Join KXCI on Thursday, July 9th at 5pm for a special airing of The Jayhawks: Music From The North Country, a one-hour radio special celebrating one of the most unique bands ever to mix rock and country.
In the mid 1980s, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul exploded with music. If Minnesota is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," then those cities became the "Land of 10,000 Bands." Many groups came and went, but in 1985, The Jayhawks emerged and for the next 20 years built their own unique and influential mix of rock and country.
In addition to a lot of great music, this one-hour special includes talks with band members Gary Louris and Mark Olson, fans like Jeff Tweedy and Joe Henry, and album producer Rick Rubin.
