Tune in for Live@5 on the Homestretch this Monday afternoon for a Studio 2a performance from El Ten Eleven.
El Ten Eleven are a bass/guitar and drum duo from California. Their releases of ambient groove oriented post rock instrumentals are a favorite of KXCI DJ's. El Ten Eleven are known for mind blowing/head scratching performances, where one wonders how do two people make so much sound and still sound so good.
El Ten Eleven performs Monday 5/18 at Plush, local groups Mascaron and Four Five Six open the show at 9:30pm.
Join Kidd Squidd's Mystery Jukebox Saturday from 2-5pm when he'll be joined by KXCI friend & DJ Ron "Jabar" Thomas for:
"SQUIDD 'N' JABAR'S HOUSE OF SOUL:THE SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION".
Jabar, who is a much beloved former programmer at KXCI, now lives in Texas. He visits Tucson every year or so & tries to join the Kidd whenever possible to spin 60's Soul music. This show will be the 25th time they've done this together (approximately!), hence the "Silver Jubilee" celebration. Join these funky Soul Brothers for a truly "Natch'l Ball"!
We have two special live performances this Friday, May 15th on The Homestretch.
Shotgun Party will be on the air around 5pm. This female led trio from Austin Texas specializes in back porch country swing. Shotgun Party will be performing Friday night at the Red Room, in Grill downtown on Congress, along with Tucson's own Silver Thread Trio.
Paul Geremia will be on the air around 5:30. This master Bluesman got his start during the Folk Blues revival of the early 1960’s, learning firsthand from legendary players Son House, Howlin’ Wolf and Skip James. Today he is widely regarded as one of the best living Country Blues fingerpickers. Rolling Stone proclaimed him, “One of the finest blues artists in a long time,". Paul Geremia is performing Friday night in a Rhythm & Roots concert at Old Town Artisans along with Arizona Blues Hall of Famer Hans Olson.
Jenny Owen Youngs stops by for a solo Studio 2A performance at 4:30pm this afternoon on The Homestretch.
She's performing tonight at Club Congress with Jukebox The Ghost opening at 8pm.
Jenny Owen Youngs new album is coming out in a couple weeks but you can download it now by clicking HERE and a portion of the proceeds will go to support Smile Train, a charitable organization which funds surgeries for children born with cleft palates.
