KXCI Celebrates Read Across America Day with Seussational Programming, Tuesday March 2

91.3 KXCI Community Radio Proud to be a part of National Read Across America Day Tuesday, March 2 10:00 AM to Midnight 91.3 KXCI Tucson KXCI is proud to participate in Read Across America Day. On Tuesday, March 2, KXCI Djs will be reading Dr. Seuss stories over the airwaves to celebrate the author's birthday. Along with our eclectic mix of great music, we'll be interspersing excerpts from your favorite KXCI djs reading some of your favorite Seuss Stories. It'll be a Seussational Day of programming with KXCI helping to put some fun into reading fundamentals. Tune in to 91.3 KXCI Tucson from 10:00 am to midnight for hourly Seuss stories. The Soundtrack Of Our Lives and Gordie Tentrees in-Studio 2A

We have two Special live performances Tuesday, Feb. 23rd, in-Studio 2A. Yukon native Gordie Tentrees sits in with Acoustic Alternative host Henry Hallett for an live performance around 4:45pm on the Home Stretch. Gordie plays gritty folk and Americana, in the vein of fellow Canadian Fred Eaglesmith. He's playing at Nimbus Brewery at 8pm. Then get ready for some high energy rock n' roll around 5:30pm with The Soundtrack Of Our Lives. KXCI's Jorgenator sits in with this Swedish psychedelic group for an interview and performance on The Home Stretch. They are swinging through Tucson on a rare U.S. tour and will be performing Tuesday night at The Rialto Theatre. This all ages show starts at 8pm with Nico Vega and The Static Session.

91.3 KXCI Community Radio to Broadcast 13th Annual Homelessness Marathon

6:00PM Tuesday, February 23 to 7:00AM Wednesday, February 24 91.3 KXCI Tucson Community Radio 91.3 KXCI will broadcast the 13th Annual Homelessness Marathon live from Tuesday February 23 at 6:00PM through 7:00AM Wednesday, February 24. The Homelessness Marathon is an annual 14-hour radio broadcast featuring the voices and stories of homeless people from around the United States. The Homelessness Marathon features live call-ins all night long via a national toll-free number. This year, the nationally syndicated broadcast originates from Detroit where the economy is in shambles. KXCI will supplement this programming with interviews during The Homestretch at 4:00pm on Monday February 22 and Tuesday February 23 with Southern Arizonans who are working on the issue of homelessness. There will be two call-in numbers for the broadcast. Darden Smith & Asylum Street Spankers - live in Studio 2A - Wednesday

We have two great live performances in Studio 2A this Wednesday, Feb. 17th, on The Home Stretch. Darden Smith comes in with his acoustic guitar and unique take on Americana and folk music at 3:30pm. He'll be performing a 7pm KXCI Presents! show at Club Congress on Sunday Feb. 21st. Then the Asylum Street Spankers will be back in the KXCI studios for a live set at 5:30pm. The Spankers are swinging through town on their Salvation and Sin tour behind their new "agnostic gospel" album, God's Favorite Band. Expect them to deliver two sets Wednesday night at Plush, one of rousing gospel and another exploring wilder side of vices.

Alec Ounsworth & James McMurtry in-Studio 2A - Tuesday 2/9

We have two live performances on The Home Stretch this Tuesday, Feb. 9th. Around 3:30pm Alec Ounsworth, of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, will be in for an acoustic performance. He's in town Tuesday night at Solar Culture, Golden Boots opens this all ages KXCI Presents! show at 9pm. Around 5:30ppm James McMurtry will stop by for another live in-Studio 2A performance. James McMurtry & The Heartless Bastards play an early 7pm show, Tuesday at Club Congress.

KXCI Commemorates Black History Month

Community Radio 91.3 KXCI Tucson is pleased to partner with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. to celebrate the achievements, culture, contributions and history of local African Americans. From February 1 through February 25, KXCI will be broadcasting Black History Month Features daily at 6:30 am, 10:30 am, 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Over 15 members of Delta Sigma Theta and Kappa Alpha Psi came down to the KXCI studios to record segments about local African American people and events and their significance to Southern Arizona.
