Featured on this week on KXCI:
This week, KXCI spotlights new albums from a new collaboration between Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and George Harrison's son Dhani. We go global with El Guincho, a project from Pablo Diaz-Reixa, stay local with the newest album from Hairsprayfireandgirls, and hear from Junip - a trio from Gothenburg, Sweden. Monday night it's the Divison Fix on Locals Only at 9pm.
This week, just for you, KXCI cooks up new music by Jenny and Johnny, John Legend and the Roots, Bostich + Fussible and Tucson record label Fort Lowell Records. Tuesday features an interview with Michael Franti and Tuesday night in Rozie's Rhythm Room, there's an extra special play on words. New in our Podcast Jukebox, our interview and performance with David Lowery and Johnny Hickman of Cracker, recorded 9/14/10 live in Studio 2A.
Ten local musical acts joined us on August 28th to celebrate the music of 1970 at the Rialto Theatre. This Monday only, we will broadcast a selection of songs from that show over a 2 1/2 hour period as an "extra special" program during our Fall Membership Drive. If you were one of the over 700 fans who joined us for this benefit concert, Monday will offer a chance to relive your favorite moments from the night. If you couldn't join us back in August, this program will give you a chance to hear what all your friends have been buzzing about these last three weeks. Join us on-air Monday for select performances by:
Chris Holiman performing James Taylor
The Tangelos performing Van Morrison
The Wayback Machine performing The Band
Namoli Brennet performing Simon & Garfunkel
Drama Club performing Ike & Tina Turner
Cheepness performing Neil Young
Leila Lopez performing The Beatles
Top Dead Center performing the Grateful Dead
Whole Lotta Zep performing Led Zeppelin

"Music is Sunshine," says Michael Franti. The sometimes political but always socially conscious-thinking Franti serves up another album full of positive goodness.

KXCI Presents! a Tucson Music Reunion!
The longest-running night club on this side of the Mississippi is celebrating their 25th anniversary! But this year, it’s not about us! It’s about you… how you and your friends used to hole up in Nino’s watching River Roses rockin’ out til dawn. How you found your husband at the Casino Ballroom and got pregnant after watching Love LTD. It’s about the Tucson you knew back in the day. And it’s all here.. the bands, the photos, the memories (yep, even those you tried to forget!)
