Scottish group The Trashcan Sinatras stopped by KXCI's Studio 2A on Wednesday the 28th. Look here for a link to the audio of the live performance.


Great music over the airwaves this week: a freshman album from supergroup Tired Pony (Peter Buck Scott McCaughey), a slice of urban Brazil with Luisa Maita, and the third EP from Sydney quartet, The Jezabels. KXCI's 3:30 Local Music News features the new album from BK Special (Bobby Kimmel, Stefan George).

Another great week of KXCI Presents! shows, performances and giveaways.

Texas Tornados
Saturday it’s the Texas Tornados at Plaza Palomino. The Tex-Mex supergroup is back; Augie Meyers and Flaco Jimenez reunite with the son of Doug Sahm, Shawn Sahm, to blend country, early rock, Mexican folk music, R&B, blues, and whatever other roots music crosses their path in true "tornado" style. Also this Saturday at 2pm on Kid Squidd's Mystery JukeboxMad Max and the Wild Ones, a father-and-sons quartet performing at the Club Crawl this weekend.
Sunday, October 17th, it’s the annual SABHF Blues Festival at Reid Park. This year’s headliner is Alligator Records blues singer Janiva Magness. KXCI will be there and broadcasting the concert via tape delay. The festival goes from 11am to 6:30pm, tickets are $10 for adults, and free for ages 17 and younger.

BeauSoleil

Thursday it’s BeauSoleil performing at The Rialto. One of Cajun music’s best known acts, BeauSoleil has kept the unique culture and musical heritage of southern Louisiana alive and strong. Doors open at 7pm with The Dusty 45’s.
Sahara Smith

Also Thursday, we have Sahara Smith playing Hotel Congress at 7pm in a free, KXCI listener appreciation show. A young award-winning artist from the Austin area, Sahara Smith just released her debut album with some help from producer T-Bone Burnett.

Martin Sexton - Live in Studio 2A - Wednesday 10/6

Tune in Wednesday afternoon around 3:30pm for a live in-studio with Martin Sexton on The Home Stretch. An americana songwriter who blends folk, soul, gospel and rock; Martin Sexton is an acclaimed live performer and vocalist. Martin and band are playing a KXCI Presents! show with Leslie Stevens and the Badgers at Plush this Wednesday, doors open at 9pm.


Trevor Hall & Hayes Carll - Live In-Studios - Tuesday 10/5

Hayes Carll will be in Studio 2A for a live performance Tuesday afternoon at 3:30pm. This Texas singer-songwriter was recently awarded new/emerging artist of the year from the Americana Music Association. Hayes performs at 7pm Tuesday on the patio of Club Congress for a free KXCI listener appreciation show. Later Tuesday afternoon, Trevor Hall stops by Studio 2A for another live performance. Tune in at 5:30pm on The Home Stretch for that in-studio. Trevor Hall and band will also be playing Tuesday night at Club Congress, but indoors for an early, all ages KXCI Presents! show.
