Featured Last Week on KXCI:

(L-R) Afrocubism, Badly Drawn Boy, N.E.R.D., R.E.M.

Last week featured new efforts from Afrocubism - featuring Malian guitarist Djelimady Tounkara, n'goni player Bassekou Kouyate, Toumani Diabate and many others - a supergroup that would make any publicist drool; After being bruised by the industry and three years of seclusion, Damon Gough is back with a new Badly Drawn Boy album; N.E.R.D. introduces Rhea, a brand new vocalist to the group's fourth album which bends genres even more than in the past.

This week's CD Documentary looks back on R.E.M.'s Murmur, and on Locals Only on Monday night, it's Martin Tanner, winner of the Acoustic Battle of the Bands, Live in Studio 2A.

Featured Last Week on KXCI:

(L-R) Bujo Banton, Kelley Stoltz, Johnny Flynn

Tired from all the great new music? Of course not! This week, Buju Banton - incarcerated since December of 2009 on alleged drug conspiracy charges, and who's trial proceedings finally began last month - delivers a compact new album of tracks culled from earlier recording sessions. San Francisco mainstay Kelley Stoltz' latest continues his psychedelic-tinged, orchestral-pop and folk-rock affection. Groups like Mumford and Sons, Noah The Whale and Laura Marling have been the vanguard of a crossover-friendly folk movement and you can add Johnny Flynn and his latest album to that list. Charlie Musselwhite stops by KXCI on Wednesday. Faun Fables visits KXCI's Studios 2A on Friday before their performance at the Screening Room.
