Vote For Your Favorite Albums of 2011!

On January 2nd from 7am to 6pm, KXCI 91.3FM will spin the Top 100 Albums of 2011 as determined by airplay on Your Community Radio. You'll enjoy a great look back at the year with music ranging from Paul Simon and Feist to My Morning Jacket and Deer Tick.

We know our Top 100, but we're curious as to what YOU would choose as your top albums from a year full of great music. A new disc from an old favorite? Music from an artist you've just discovered? Perhaps tunes from a musician from the other side of the world... or maybe from right here in our own backyard.

Please vote for up to 10 of your 2011 favorites today in our online survey: click here to vote.

We'll tabulate the results and share them in a special edition of The Home Stretch on January 3rd.

Charlie Faye in Studio 2A on The Home Stretch 12/2 3:30pm

Charlie Faye will be stopping in with Will Sexton for an in-Studio 2a performance at 3:30pm Friday Dec. 2nd. She is performing Friday night at Club Congress for her Tucson CD release party.

Charlie Faye was in Tucson about two years ago on a year log tour where she spent a month at a time in a new city. Tucson was her first stop and she recorded a song, on her new cd, with Calexico and Sergio Mendoza. See below for details about the tour and CD.

On January 1st, 2010, Charlie Faye pulled out of her hometown of Austin, Texas, to embark on a modern bohemian adventure. In 10 months, Charlie made her home in 10 different towns; starting a new band in each town, performing live and recording a new song with them.
Charlie's tour was more like John Steinbeck's famous road- trip with his dog than a musician's mad dash across the country. Instead of landing in a city, playing a show, then taking off the next day, Charlie spent a month getting to know the people and personality of each place she made her home.

Throughout the year, Charlie recorded songs across the country for her upcoming album with members of Calexico, The Eagles, Lil' Band O' Gold, Navarro (Carole King's band from the 70s), and Malcolm Burn (Emmylou Harris), Warren Storm, Dave Way (Michael Jackson), Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann), Brian MacLeod (Sheryl Crow, John Hiatt), Ian Moore (Jason Mraz), Kenny Vaughan (Lucinda Williams), Will Sexton, and Chris Scruggs.
