Roger McGuinn, The Cave Singers & The Fremonts all in Studio 2A Friday on The Home Stretch

A jam packed day of in-studios with Roger McGuinn, The Fremonts and The Cave Singers this Friday, June 15th, on The Home Stretch.

Roger McGuinn will be on a little after 3pm for a live performance and interview with Cathy Rivers. Roger McGuinn is legendary co-founder and former front man for the folk-rock band, The Byrds, famous for their hit renditions of Bob Dylan's "Tambourine Man" and Peter Seeger's "Turn! Turn! Turn!" McGuinn brings his talent as a solo guitar player and folk artist to The Fox this Saturday for an intimate evening of song and storytelling.

The Fremonts will be on at 4:30 on T.H.S. for an interview with Marty Kool of KXCI's The Blues Review. The Fremonts play Louisiana swamp blues in the vein of Excello records and feature vocals from Mighty Joe Young. Harmonica player Bob Corritore will be sitting in on their Rhythm & Roots performance Friday night, 8pm, at the Sheraton Tucson Hotel, 5151 E. Grant.

The Cave Singers will be on around 5:40 for a Studio 2A performance with The Jorgenator interviewing, which will bridge right into his show, the Stereosphere, at 6pm every Friday. The Cave Singers bring their dynamic take on indie rock meets folk to Plush Friday night. Local faves Acorn Bcorn open the show at 9:30pm.

Collin Shook Trio - Locals Only - June 4th

Tonight on Locals Only we have the Collin Shook Trio live in Studio 2a at 9pm.
The Collin Shook Trio celebrate the release of their debut album "Derivatives" with a release party Saturday, June 16th at Plush, with special guests Genevieve and the LP's and The Tryst.

The hard-driving sound of the Collin Shook Trio is a fresh departure from the Tucson jazz scene. The Trio's first album , "Derivatives", features eleven of Collin's own originals. The songs range from breakbeat, hard-bop, ballads, to extreme high energy passages. On the album is their 3-piece "#Occupy Suite", an ode to the movement and it's principles. "Derivatives", the title track is a commentary on Wall Street, and "Poca Cosa, the little one" is a burning latin tune composed for the Davila Sisters and their awesome, authentic Mexican restaurant in the heart of Tucson.
The album contains their signature sound: the classic Hard Bop from the 1960's, fused with a modern and classically influenced vocabulary and sensibility. Dylan DeRobertis on bass, and Matt Pirc completes the ensemble.

Listen to their Locals Only performance at 91.3FM and past ones at the KXCI Locals Only Podcast Archive (and this one once it is available).
