KXCI Presents! Ingrid Michaelson

Ingrid Michaelson plays at The Rialto on Sunday in another KXCI Presents! concert. Ingrid is an independent singer songwriter whose melodic and lyrical ways have won her grassroots critical acclaim as well as features on multiple television shows. Doors open at 7pm and Harper Blynn starts this early all ages show on Sunday, April 29th.

Two great double bills for KXCI Presents! shows Friday and Monday.

Friday finds Andrew Bird and Laura Marling at The Rialto Theatre. Longtime KXCI favorite Andrew Bird and band are touring behind their newest release, Break It Yourself. All concert tickets will be bundled with this new release and two live EP's. England's new folk sensation, Laura Marling opens this all ages show with doors at 7pm.


Monday, April 23rd, it's another great double bill with Bon Iver and Feist at the TCC. Both groups have been mainstays of KXCI DJ's and listeners for years but are now getting widespread acclaim. Bon Iver just won two Grammy's for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album. Leslie Feist has been making great music and steadily amassing accolades since her 2004 debut. Doors open at 7:30pm with Feist for this all ages double bill at the TCC Arena. More information at Stateside Presents.

KXCI Commemorates Earth Day

Kick off your Earth Day Weekend with KXCI on Friday, April 20 for a day long celebration of the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day. Search and Rescue, Your Morning Brew, The Music Mix and The Home Stretch will be spinning a blend of fun Earthy music including some of the classics and some new favorites.

We heard from the following students, local nonprofits, government agencies and businesses. Check out their websites to learn more about what they have to offer.

They will be performing at this Saturday's Club Crawl on the Hotel Congress outdoor stage.

Opening is tUnE-yArDs, the name under which producer Merrill Garbus records and performs her sampled experimental folk. Both artists are touring behind recent releases on 4AD Records.

KXCI Kicks Off Earth Day Weekend with Special Programming Friday, April 20th

Kick off your Earth Day Weekend by tuning in to 91.3 KXCI Tucson on Friday, April 20 for a day long on air celebration of the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day. We'll be marking this milestone with special programming from 3:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Search and Rescue, Your Morning Brew, The Music Mix and The Home Stretch will be spinning a blend of fun Earthy music including some of the classics and some new favorites. We'll also be hearing from local environmental leaders and community voices throughout the day with information on ecological advances.

Sunday night it's Mike Doughty in an intimate early show at Club Congress. Mike Doughty is known as the front-man of Soul Coughing, as well as for his solo work and performances. Doors open at Club Congress at 7pm, then at 10pm, Los Pork Torta perform for the Tucson Roller Derby after party.

KXCI Presents! reunion's of Summerdog and fIREHOSE

KXCI Presents! two exciting reunions. 
Saturday it's the 30 year reunion of newgrass, bluegrass and swing band, Summerdog at El Casino Ballroom. Summerdog were popular in Tucson and the Western US in the 1970's and early 80's. Tune in for a special performance and interview with Summerdog on The Bluegrass Show with Milo on KXCI, Saturday morning between 10 and noon. Their Tucson dance party takes place at El Casino Ballroom (437 E. 26th St., east of 4th Ave.) with a large dance floor, full bar and special guests this Saturday night. Tickets for the Summerdog reunion at In Concert Tucson, all Bookmans, the Folk Shop and Antigone Books.

Givers in Studio 2A and KXCI Presents! at Plush this Wednesday

Tune in for an in-Studio 2A performance from Givers this Wednesday April 11th at 5:30pm on The Home Stretch.
The Givers are a young group from Lafayette, Louisiana who make energetic and exuberant indie rock. Catch them at Plush this Wednesday night in Tucson before the play Coachella, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Hangout Festival, Mountain Jam & Lollapalooza.
Locals Kaia Chesney and Rescue Lights open the show at 9pm.
