The Mavericks Live in Studio 2A Thursday 3/21 on The Home Stretch

Tune in for an acoustic session with The Mavericks in KXCI's Studio 2A on The Home Stretch at 5pm March 21st. They are playing Thursday night at The Fox Theatre, doors at 6:30pm with Seth Walker opening.
The Mavericks are back. The country-steeped garage band with a Cuban American lead singer, emerged from Miami with their sultry debut that was equal parts innocence, intensity and vintage influences. But time has a way of melting when you’re busy living life – and two decades has passed since their polyrhythmic brand of post-modern country has given the world “All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down,” “Here Comes The Rain” and “Dance The Night Away.”

A Jesus Acedo memorial facebook page is here and here are links to articles in Blurt magazine, the Tucson Weekly and Slowburn Records. There will be a benefit concert at The Hut on April 14th.

Wolf Larsen on Locals Only Monday, March 18th

Monday night Wolf Larsen shares her poetic and meditative songs over the KXCI airwaves via Studio 2A on Locals Only from 9 to 10pm. Listen live at 91.3FM or stream at kxci.org. Click above for a sneak peak of her blanket-fort music from her soundcloud page. Wolf Larsen will be opening up our Festival en el Barrio this Sunday, March 24th at 1pm. Tickets are available online and at the box office for The Rialto Theatre, and member tickets are also available at KXCI. A full schedule, map and more information can be found at barriofestival.com.

Known to many as a female Leonard Cohen – poetic, meditative, and slightly reclusive - Wolf Larsen channels a deep well of emotion into a set of songs about hope, prayer, love, death, God, and Jedi princess warriors. Her rare live shows are known for transforming any noisy barroom scene into Sunday evening vespers. Formerly based in San Francisco, she is now rumored to have taken up residence in Tucson, Arizona.

15% of proceeds from Quiet at the Kitchen Door will be donated The Girl Effect , and organizations that invest in the education of girls around the world.

KXCI Presents! this week March 12-16th: Joshua James, Bruce Cockburn, Matt Costa and Josh Ritter

A flurry of great KXCI Presents! concerts come to Tucson this week with Josh Ritter Saturday at The Rialto Theatre, Matt Costa Thursday at Club Congress, Bruce Cockburn Wednesday at The Rialto and Joshua James Tuesday at Plush, details and descriptions below. We have a limited number of pairs of guest lists available with membership support of $180 or $15/month, call now 520-623-1000 or online at kxci.org.
Joshua James, Tuesday at 7pm at Plush
An amazing young singer-songwriter whose new album recently topped our charts. Think Elliott Smith and Morrissey combined with Leonard Cohen.
Bruce Cockburn, Wednesday at 8pm at Rialto
His career has spanned more than three decades and two dozen plus albums; a rare chance to see a legend in the alt-folk world.
Matt Costa, Thursday at 7pm at Club Congress
Matt brings California sunshine to his indie-folk-pop sound often laced with a 70s "AM" radio vibe to create a really, really fun live show.
Josh Ritter, Saturday at 8pm at Rialto
Josh brings a bit more country in to the singer-songwriter areana. His new album is darker (dealing with his divorce) but still engaging and entertaining, a real testament to his lyrical skills.
